PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
This is the 36th year of existence for Gujarati Samaj of Baltimore. We are proud to be the largest, well organized, ethical and vibrant association for the Gujarati community in Maryland. I want to thank our members, committee members, volunteers, donors and advertisers for their unconditional support and cooperation. Gujarati Samaj of Baltimore has organized numerous cultural and other events every year for all these years and they are well received by our members and their guests. We plan to continue such events in the coming years and with your suggestions and cooperation we will organize even more events in the future. Our last Diwali dinner and Music program on November 13, 2011 was attended by more than 440 members who praised the delicious dinner catered by Chowpati restaurant and enjoyed an outstanding musical performance ' Ek Shaam Rafi Ke Naam ' brought to us by Mr. Natvar Thakkar of 999 Enterprises. I want to thank the committee members and volunteers for their hard work to make every event successful and enjoyable. We also appreciate the unwavering support and attendance of our members at all our events. We hope to continue our rich tradition, our cultural activities and our success for years to come.
My special thanks go to Mr. Payesh Jhaveri, our past president, who has worked extra hard, has
made numerous improvements and has always acted with dignity and integrity.
The General Body meeting and Elections of Gujarati Samaj of Baltimore were held on December 10, 2011 at Meadowbrook Athletic complex. It is my pleasure to introduce year 2012-2013 executive committee and volunteers, who are listed on this page. All members of the executive committee were the sole nominees for their positions and were elected uncontested. If you would like to be a volunteer for Gujarati Samaj of Baltimore events please contact me.
We are bringing to you a very famous Gujarati Natak ' Tu Che Lajawab ' in association with Gujarati Samaj of Washington and Udeshi, Inc. on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Laurel High School. Once again we were not able to find any High School auditoriums in Baltimore and therefore, this was the best alternative available to us. For more details, please see elsewhere in the Newsletter.
Vraj Yatra: We are planning a Vraj Yatra in the near future. It is very popular with our members, especially, our seniors. We usually charter four buses which can accommodate 200 people. The cost of buses, food and donations to temples is over $5,000. Again this year, we would like to provide this Vraj Yatra to our seniors for free. We need your donations to make this trip possible.
If you would like to donate any amount from $100 to $1,000 or more for this worthwhile cause please contact me or any committee members.
We appreciate the support of our advertisers and we encourage you to please patronize them. I sincerely thank all participants, volunteers and committee members and their spouses for their unconditional support and help.
